On Monday, Jan. 18 authorities responded to multiple accidents just south of Idaho Falls due to slick road conditions. The Idaho Falls Fire Department and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s office responded to two accidents that occurred just after 10 a.m. One accident was a roll over near South 5th West and West 65th South. While responding to the roll over another accident occurred where a vehicle slid off the road. The emergency crews then responded to the second accident. There were minor injuries were reported from the accidents.

With all of the snow and cold weather we have had this winter roads have been slicker and driving conditions have been more dangerous. In the winter there are some items that you should make sure that you have in case you do get in an accident or get stuck. Those items are a blanket, shovel, ice scraper, de-icer windshield washer fluid, flashlight, batteries, and snacks. It is also helpful to have some sand or kitty litter to help create traction if you get stuck. These items along with making sure that everything in your car works properly and that your tires are in good condition with enough air will help make sure you stay as you drive in the winter and on slick roads. Winter driving can be dangerous, because of that being prepared in case anything happens is important. When possible, if there is a storm try to stay home or avoid driving especially if you do not feel comfortable. If you do have to drive remember to drive slower and pay more attention to the roads and the other drivers as well.
